Enjoyed your terrific article on barbershop quartetting, both male and female. The Normal Rockwell Saturday Evening Post cover of the quartet is the image that personifies quartetting for barbershoppers and those outside the hobby as well. My hope is that Taylor's story will reach out to readers everywhere especially the younger generation and draw them in for a visit to a barbershop chapter in their area. We are confident that a visit will equal a member or at least a fan for life. As a member who has sung in more than 75 quartet contests since 1976, I can affirm that there is not a hobby around that offers as much wholesome fun as barbershop quartetting!

i was fortunate enough to be able to prticipate as a chorus competitor at nashville. just being in a famous city with all the famous country stars was really a thrill. one thing that really made the trip worthwhile more than just about anything was seeing myself on the mural. i actually did a jimmy finlayson double take in disbelief.this was a week that i,ll always remember and cherish. i feel like nashville will always be like a second home, not only because of our headquarters being there, but being part of a famous wall. trev

Thanks for the interesting article, especially the mention of the Johnson Sisters. My mom was Stella Johnson, and she sang the baritone parts. As a young boy I remember being carted along to many a singing venue, both for competition and just for fun. At several of these events during the late '40s I would sing along with them as a "fifth," making up the harmony as I sang along. I would then get to pass a hat around the audience after that and keep the collection. That was the most fun. I've been singing in church choirs almost ever since.

I'm 17 years old, and I LOVE Barbershop music. It's fascinating how the 4 parts come together, and it's so satisfying to hear a ringing chord. Max Q and Vocal Spectrum are among my favourite quartets. Being 17 and liking Barbershop is unusual, especially seeing as I'm from England where the genre is certainly not as popular as in the USA. But I love Barbershop music and I hope people will start appreciating it again.
