yeah..you're right, there's a retirement, i think everyone needs a retirement because retirement is the time where we need to relax..and to give up you're work..because everyone are getting older..like my grand ma..my grand ma is a good principal..but she already reached the age 65 so its time to for her to rest..and give her responsibilities to other person..

I am 65 and hopefully about to begin a clinical practicum in Mental Health Counseling. After retiring at age 48 after teaching for 25 years I enjoyed retirement but now am eager for the intellecutual stimulation that I so yearn for.
I hope that the sites that I apply to do take into account not only my dedication, intellligence life experience but my total willingness to learn what I do not know which some students in their 20's think that they already know.
I hope that I am accepted at the site that I most desire as it has the best supervision and as a retired teacher that is what I know is the basis for learning a profession.

You're kidding! There is no retirement! And if you call me, the answering machine will inform you that I am "the egg lady, the news lady and the welcome hostess"! That means I raise chickens, work for the local weekly newspaper and welcome newcomers! I love what I do, need the income and would go stir crazy without the stimulation!

I retired at 40. Can't imagine what I was thinking so I began a second career and look forward to another since I'm just reaching 50.Article touches on lots of the sentiments that keep our generation (and my parents) alive and well. Keep up the good work.

I am 77 years old and I teach full time at the California State University Northridge. I am enjoying life a little bit more every day and I have never really thought seriously about retirement. It may happen someday if I become physically or mentally unable to continue teaching but it is not something I look forward to. Working is not all about income. Economically there is no reason I could not retire to the couch and spend my time watching TV or hanging around a golf course. However I am certain that would suddenly transform me into a very grouchy old man. And what is the point? Does anyone really enjoy that kind of life? Well I suppose some do but it has been my experience that the vast majority of retired people are not happy doing essentially nothing and no longer making any contribution to humanity. I have several colleagues who have retired and most of them have admitted to me that it was a mistake. Actually I hope never to retire. It is my ambition to simply drop dead one day while giving a lecture. As the paramedics carry my body out of the classroom the students will look at each other and say Well that his last lecture but he had a good run. . . . now we have to get ready for finals.
