Lisinopril is a generic drug that is FDA approved for two brand name products—Prinivil and Zestril. It may be prescribed alone or with other medicines to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Lisinopril may also be given to people who have suffered a heart attack. Left untreated, high blood pressure may damage the heart, kidneys, and eyes.
