The Saturday Evening Post magazine salutes veteran newsman Paul Harvey, dubbed the “voice of Middle America.”
In the Sept./Oct. 2003 issue of the Post, writer Rick Kogan profiled “the most listened-to voice in the history of radio.”
Paul Harvey, with his unique style and commentary, will be sorely missed, as is his beloved wife and collaborator, Angel, who passed away last year.
“My father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news,” said his son, Paul Harvey, Jr., in a statement on Mr. Harvey’s Web site, paulharvey.com. “So in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents and today millions have lost a friend.”

Each week, more than 25 million loyal listeners tuned in to hear Harvey’s skillful blend of news and views, ending each broadcast with two words that after 50 years and thousands of broadcasts became his signature sign-off, “Paul Harvey. Good day!”

“We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him,” wrote Jim Robinson, president of ABC Radio Networks. “Our thoughts and prayers are now with his son Paul Jr. and the rest of the Harvey family.”

Along with millions of Americans, the Post bids you “Good Night.”
