Cherry Oatmeal Cookies
(Makes 32 cookies)
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 4 cups oats
- 1 1/2 cups dried cherries
Preheat oven to 325 F. In a large mixing bowl, cream together shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Combine next five dry ingredients. Add dry mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Mix in oats, then cherries. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12 minutes.
