Dear Dr. SerVaas,
Recently, I was rereading a Post article that mentions Kegel exercises. What are they, and how are they done?

Kegel exercises help strengthen muscles in the pelvis that are important for urinary control. The exercises may be especially beneficial for women who have given birth to several children and for men before and after prostate surgery — common scenarios that tend to weaken the muscular “sling” that supports the bladder and urethra. For specific instructions, contact the National Association for Continence (nafc.org or 1-800-BLADDER) or send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Adult Kegel Exercises, 1100 Waterway Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
