As I understand it, treatment with this drug reduces one's immune system. Do you believe it is better for a senior person with moderate psoriasis to live with the ointments instead of risking stelara treatment? Also, suppose one has had a history of cancer (all caught in time, fortunately)....should he avoid stelara?

I had my first injection of Stelera six weeks ago. When I returned to the doctor for the booster shot a month later, I was 70% clear and it has only gotten better since then.

Almost daily I see improvement in areas that were severe - most plaque has simply disappeared.

So far NO SIDE EFFECTS - only total satisfaction. I hope it continues to be this way as this is the first treatment (of the half-dozen or so I have tried- including two injectables) that has actually worked.

Insurance covers all but $60 of the cost for me and even then it is less expensive than the once a month shots I was taking previously.

I hope it works for you as it has for me!!!

Have been on Methotrexate since the 70s. on Enbrel for the past 6 years. Last blood test showed low platelets (70k) so Doc took me off Enbrel. I am now currently 90% covered with psoriasis. Oh - and I got laid off 7/30/09. Yippee. Using Clobex topically. (WhoopDeeDoo) Look like "BrundleFly". Waiting for next blood test to say I'm ok to use Stelara. This is a horrible disease. Can't shower... can't dress ... too painful. Hopefully Stelara will help.
And thank you merciful drug companies who hold us all hostage. I'm so thrilled you're all on annual bonuses and making the big bucks.

FU

From those of us who don't deserve this and know that there is a solution.
Yes I AM trying to be positive - but it's really tough.

XXOO to my fellow sufferers.

I have suffered from severe psoriasis for over 20 years and am the worst case at my doctors office. I have tried everything on the market and presently am using remidyl by IV every 8 weeks with little effect. I have been waiting for this new medicine since last January. I will get my medicine today by Fed Ex and my first shot on Monday. I am so anxious as nothing has ever been effective with my psoriasis and I have about 40-50% of my body involved. The thought of relief is almost beyond belief. I will be the first in our office to get it and I just cant wait for the shot. Can you believe someone cant wait for a shot? I used to be shot phobic. Now I cant wait. Thank you ahead of time for all your efforts.
