I have a cochlear implant on one ear and a phonak hearing aid on the other. I am severally deaf. Your comments say for mild deafness to severe.. would it help me?

The audiologist says that the esteem is just a hearing aid implanted and if the hearing aid I am wearinf is not great ..so would the esteem be not great as it is a implant hearing aid.

Colorado Springs is my home..where could I get unbiased information??

I had no idea that the device was so large. Is it set in such a manner that it can not be moved. Can a person run, play ball and go swimming with the device. Is there any long term recurring or occuring pain caused by the device. I know you say it is life like hearing, but is it also like a convention hearing aid, in which you can hear yourself talk and breath? What about using it with a cell phone, is there anything special you need to do to use with a cell phone.

For much more about this remarkable hearing implant, check out the manufacturer's website (envoymedical.com). If you don't find what you're looking for, submit your question on their website or call Envoy Medical Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota, at 1-866-950-4327.

This is a real breakthrough for people with moderate to severe hearing loss. If someone opts for the Esteem, will you please let us know how it goes?

I, too, would like to know the answers to Sue's questions, posted Oct. 5th, 2010. My husband has complete hearing loss in one ear and only 60 - 70% hearing in the other. Would appreciate seeing those answers.

What desired audiograms are appropriate for use of the Esteem? Is a predominance of high frequency loss a condition that would benefit from the use of Esteem? Is it used bilaterally, or just one ear, or just one at a time? Is it comparable to a "power digital hearing aid"? What are the 3 styles of hearing is it programmed for. & can these be changed to keep up with progression? If for some reason it does not benefit the user, is it possible to return to the use of power digital aids before the Esteem was attempted. --- or at that time, would a cochlear implant be recommended?. And glad to see it has a volume control.
