“Saving jobs” and “keeping homes” at other people’s forced expense is not really saving or keeping anything. Robbing Peter to pay Paul doesn’t work–though Paul obviously sees it differently. With that stolen money, the government also, of course, buys Paul’s vote.
In addition, any monies repaid–with or without interest–hardly goes back to the taxpayer. Those funds are used by government to purchase even more government.

That last paragraph sounds like one man’s opinion. Perhaps the “businessmen” referred to in the last paragraph are big business men and yes their cupidity is evident. One has to wonder – how many small business men were interviewed for this article? Or the employees who got to keep their jobs because of the government’s help (along with keeping their homes, etc.) One also wonders if anyone read the statistics about the taxpayers’ funding that the banks have already paid back, with interest.

The National Recovery
Administration – N.R.A.
And a blue eagle came to be
The emblem of do it this way.
Government interference with
The economic marketplace.
Zealed wing flapping the no fly myth
That profit seekers would embrace,
That out of goodness of biz heart
Big government could flex its might.
Biz would happily do its part,
Happily ever after – right!

The color from the eagle flew.
We, the taxpayers, are now blue.

One observation: Any job “created” by government is nothing more than an additional expense to the already overburdened taxpayer–to say nothing of an irresistible opportunity for cronyism.
How does this ever–in real terms–better the nation’s financial health?
