What a great picture!
I grew up with a christmas tree with candles and have continued in the tradition of my great grandparents till 1990s and never once have there been any problems!
There was always water or sand in a bucket(later asmall fireextinguisher) nearby and the tree was not left by itself.
it was a magical experience of which I have great memories…
