If the man of the house didn’t need cigars or a new razor strop, you could give him a fresh box of collars for $1.50 a dozen, pre-paid. Apparently, there weren’t as trusting as the Havana cigar man.

Or you could get him garters for his socks: “May be obtained in handsome holiday boxes for gift-making at twenty-five cents, fifty cents and one dollar.” There were no less than three ads for men’s garters in this issue and at least two for cravats. Honestly, now, can you think of a better way to endear yourself to your man than with a gift box of garters? I mean, he bought you a pneumatic cleaner, for heaven’s sake.
