Speedwell cars, 1910

Speedwell cars, 1910

There’s always the big-ticket item. This seven-passenger limousine in 1910 would set you back $3,850. Bear in mind it was a four-cylinder, 50-horsepower Model E with an “extraordinary range of conveniences and minor comforts—its adequate lighting and heating systems.” Apparently in 1910 “adequate” heat and light justified the big bucks.

By the way, buying someone a 1910 Speedwell for Christmas would cost $88,000 in today’s dollars. And they say Christmas today is too materialistic.
