my gradfather drank what wascalled white lighting and evertime my grandmother found it in the house she would take it to the front yard and
throw it on the yard and where it landed the grass did’nt grow anymore. Ha! Ha!

Following the govt. tradition of “It isn’t what it is; it is what you call it.”, That isn’t golden whiskey that is being made in the north 40. We have gone “green” that is just ethanol tractor fuel, yep.

Moonshine – I am illegal booze
Distilled by the light of the moon
To gyp the gov of revenues
From private enterprise saloon.
My womb is in a metal still.
Sugar is fermented by yeast,
Producing alcohol to spill
Through coils or other means released.
Even a horse blanket would do,
Yielding a flavor quite equine.
But in the end I was the brew
That made so many feel divine.

As American as can be,
Against the law is homemade me.

After that awful cover on the current issue, I’m not sure I want to continue subscribing. I receive the magazine because of the charming pictures that remind me of former times, when art looked like something beautiful and nostalgic. The modern “smears” of the cars on the cover is revolting.

I remember when prohibition ended. I think the tax on liquor helped keep the government a bit more solvent than now. Not so many expenses then. As I remember some of those least expected to, made the best liquor as the grapevine news said. Roosevelt kept his liking for a good drink legal.
