This is a wonderful story- I used it to read toi my adult ESL students and talk about the amazing character that comes out in people under emergency situations, ie: Sept. 11th is coming up. I wanted them to know that there is a little hero in each of us and we are all capable of coming to someone's aid at any given time. It made for a lot of discussion!
