This sure takes me back to the day...... Remember winding the tree with paper chains made of strips of colored construction paper, or threaded strings of popcorn? The old lead tinsel would never make it past the "safety" people today, but how many of us would have ever thought of eating the stuff anyway? You didn't spend any longer putting it up than was necessary, so there was minimal handling, too... We always had a Colorado blue spruce tree, kept water in the stand, and eventually its prickly needles fell off, too - but oh, what a wonderful aroma it gave the house! Isn't it odd that artificial trees lose needles, too, but they don't have any odor except 'plastic,' unless you buy spray-on scent in a can. We have made such "progress".... I wonder if anyone really bought any of those ghastly pink and purple plastic trees I saw at Walmart last Christmas, or if they had to send them all back to China......... I wonder what the Chinese people who assemble all this junk think about us - if we could honestly be that tacky?
