I just find the thought of horses (especially THAT many) dying in and from the heat to be be one of the most horrible things I've ever heard of. I'm really shocked and saddened to know that this actually happened. I can't even process this mentally right now--or ever. Reading the ALCO headline today seems very harsh and cruel. Of course a metal/steel truck wouldn't falter, where a flesh and blood horse would. But, from the standpoint of 100+ years ago I guess it would not have been. I suppose it took that to happen to SAVE future horses from the same fate. That thought is the only good thing I can take away from this.

I love the Oldsmobile 'Autocrat' ad. The artwork is beautiful, and the model name itself was very clever, blending the word auto with power. I could only read the top paragraph and it's very well written. Hopefully the public just saw the name in this context and NOT the definition referencing a ruler having unlimited authority or an oppressive and cruel dictator.
