Pearl Harbor happened, so 'twas war.
The Sullivan brothers did go
From Iowa to South Seas shore,
George, Al and Frank and Matt and Joe,
Duty called them together to
The USS Juneau, and smack
Into the deadly bombs that blew
Them up in Japanese attack.
Badly wounded, George did survive,
Death his four brothers' destiny.
Alone, he would not stay alive,
And chose to slip into the sea.

All Sullivan brothers did fall,
'Twas all for one and one for all.

Sir:

Thank you for a balanced, thoughtful and insightful piece. I believe that, even with Normandy, Iwo and the Bulge, the Canal was the seminal moment, the tipping point, for our victory in the Pacific, a war we (the United States) won alone.. As a combat veteran and the son of a WW2 veteran I sincerely thank you.

Respectfully,
