Americanism is lost.
The family unit is trashed.
Immorality is the cost
Of decent values getting smashed.
Big government does run amok,
Republican and Democrat.
More and more of each hard earned buck
Is taxed away for this or that.
The kids just care of selfish stuff.
Overindulging is to blame.
Seems that there's never time enough
To smell the roses - tiz a shame!

'Twas the year, 1962.
So 50 years later - what's new?

I graduated from high school in 1962. Your article brings back incredible memories; I even marched in the Kennedy inauguration parade when I played trombone in my high school band. Seeing the President and Jackie in her pillbox hat up close and personal is in my recall visuals almost daily. Ray Charles, "the Twist", the Beatles - on what a great time!

And now, today, based on some incredible circumstances, I am raising a 14-year-old boy. In retrospect, 1962 does feel a lot like today.
