Easter Cover Art

Published: April 1, 2015

On Sunday, many will celebrate Easter — the second biggest candy-selling holiday in the U.S. In honor of the sugary springtime holiday, we’ve gathered some of the sweetest Easter cover art from our archive. This includes several by the Post’s most prolific artist, J. C. Leyendecker. Easter egg hunts, bonnets fit for Manhattan’s Easter Parade, an acolyte fixing a cowlick before an Easter service, and an assembly line of chocolate bunnies are just some of the themes you’ll find below.

A look at Easter on the covers of The Saturday Evening Post (click on the covers to see larger image):

I love the Saturday Evening Post. I’m 88 and remember reading it as a child. It is so refershing and full of a wonderful diversity of information. I can’t express how much I enjoy it and how beneficial it has been.

I miss the old ” Medical Mailbox” rather than the abbreviated version now.

For many years (I’m 86 this month) I have loved the Saturday Evening Post, and I still do. The art work, jokes, articles, stories, the whole thing is good, which is why I still subscribe. Happy Easter!!!

The Sat. Eve. Post has always been the spoke person for the American public. I’m 76 now and as a child it was in my grandmothers house. She looked forward to the “Post” every week. I think back now and they had come from Germany in 1911! She seemed to depend on the “Post” and their comments and news. Thank-you!
