Was It an Apple?

I am writing about the article in the Sept./Oct. 2005 issue "Food in the News: Apples and Antioxidants."
The article says Adam did the right thing by eating the apple, at least as far as his health was concerned. If that is in reference to Adam in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 2, verse 17, "But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it"--the scripture doesn't say apple.
