Dear Dr. SerVaas: I read with interest the letter in the Sept./Oct. "Medical Mailbox." I also had a Latissimus Dorsi Flap, but in 1998. Perhaps the procedure was improved, but my surgery took only two hours. While it was a long recovery, I was playing golf again three months later. I have had more problems with my back as a result of shingles following radiation than I did from reconstructive surgery. It's too bad Janine Black had such a bad experience.
