Reader Remedy for Excessively Dry Skin
By Cory SerVaas, M.D.
Published: May/June 2001

Dear Dr. SerVaas: I was a teacher for 40 years. In my case, the dry skin condition discussed in the Jan./Feb. "Medical Mailbox" was caused by the chalk I used writing on the board. I tried everything and finally conquered the problem by buying a chalk holder at a stationery or educational supply house. The inexpensive holder was metal. It clamped the chalk by twisting the handle. What a blessing it was for me! I hope this suggestion helps the niece of Lucille Waller. Your "Medical Mailbox" is a great public service.
