Dr. Lemole's Protocol for RLS

Diet: Sugar-free, high-protein diet that includes fava beans. Complete avoidance of caffeine. Green drink such as Green Magma or Kyo Greens, one tablespoon in juice.Supplements: Unless specified, all supplements should be taken just before or after a meal.

• High-potency vitamin and mineral tablet daily.

• Folic acid: five milligrams three times daily, under medical supervision. May need higher doses.

• B12 injections dally for three weeks, then 3,000 micrograms of B[sub12] sublingual weekly.

• Vitamin E: 400 IU gelcap three times daily.

• Vitamin C: 500 milligrams twice daily.

• Iron, if deficient. It is extremely important to be tested for low serum iron levels.

• Magnesium Caps (Twinlab): One 400 milligram capsule each morning.

• Calcium Citrate plus Magnesium (Twinlab): Four capsules at bedtime (600 mg Calcium Citrate and 300 mg Magnesium Citrate).

• Inositol Hexanicotinate (No Flush Niacin): One 500 milligram capsule twice daily.

• CoEnzyme Q[sub10] (Q-Gel): 60 mg three times daily.

• L-tryptophan (available in new form at health-food stores): two grams at night.

• Total EFA (Health from the Sun) Essential Fatty Acids: One capsule three times daily.
