The Saturday Evening Post

The Saturday Evening Post cartoonists are the best in the business. Meet Tim Lachowski from Detroit.

“I can see my bald spot from Google Earth!”

"I can see my bald spot from Google Earth!"
May/June 2010

“I started creating a cartoon character cast in 2006, and have been publishing ever since, especially for The Saturday Evening Post,” Lachowski says. We’re comfortable with Tim’s characters. The baby boomer seeing his “bald spot from Google Earth,” the smart (or smart-mouthed) kids, the elderly parents.

“Can you recommend a wine that goes well with seafood, Zoloft, and Lipitor?”

"Can you recommend a wine that goes well with seafood, Zoloft, and Lipitor?"
Nov/Dec 2009

Dining out, baby boomer style! After five years of study at the Cleveland Institute of art, Lachowski was an advertising art director for 33 years. “Lucky for me, my ad agency respected and excelled at humor.” Lucky for us, Tim is now sending us cartoons on a regular basis.

“I guess my New Year’s resolution will be to listen much more attentively.”

"I guess my New Year's resolution will be to listen much more attentively."
Jan/Feb 2011

The older dad shows up in an occasional cartoon. Here his daughter is “getting his attention.” In another cartoon from 2009 he tells his daughter, “I want a traditional funeral. Don’t let the undertaker think outside the box.” Pops has a wry sense of humor.

“If newspapers disappear, how will I ignore you in the morning?”

"If newspapers disappear, how will I ignore you in the morning?"
Mar/Apr 2010

“My staunchest cartoon critics are my three adult children,” Tim says. “Sarah, 29, who is a chef, Eric, 25, who is an architect and Matt, 22, who is a lithographic artist and ceramicist.” There should be plenty of material there.

“You’re a little late. Your getaway driver just robbed the drive-thru window.”

"You're a little late. Your getaway driver just robbed the drive-thru window."
Jan/Feb 2009

Tim and his wife, Cyndy, have two sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniels “that don’t bark or bite—just shed.”

“While many disagree as to when life really begins, most feel it’s after work.””

"While many disagree as to when life really begins, most feel it's after work."
Jan/Feb 2009

Keep looking for these loopy characters in The Saturday Evening Post and let us know who your favorite Post cartoonist is—we’d love to feature him/her.
