]]> A growing number of baby boomers are (or will be) facing one of the most difficult decisions anyone ever has to make: choosing a nursing home for a loved one or yourself. That decision is now easier, thanks to a novel Web site called Nursing Home Compare from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that features a five-star rating system for every Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing home in the nation. Facilities receive one star (much below average) to five stars (much above average) in four categories: overall rating, health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. The site allows users to compare up to three facilities on the same screen.
