1.) I like the artwork of this cover, but don’t get the locale here as it’s less obvious than almost any other. It looks like he’s just cooling off with some water he just pumped in a rural area.
2.) Love John La Gatta’s work, and this is one of his best; just beautiful.
3.) This is a great, fun cover that (to my eye) has more of a Constantin Alajalov look than George Hughes. 1962 was a transition year for the Post before an almost complete conversion to photography in ’63-’68 as the difficult challenges of the Sixties continued their acceleration.
