Submission Guidelines

Our goal is to remain unique, with content that provides additional perspective on the ever-evolving American scene. Before sending us a manuscript or query, look through recent issues of the Post to get an idea of the range and style of articles we publish.

We do not accept poetry outside of our regular limerick contest.

Please see specific guidelines for the category of your interest below. Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, please allow 90 days for reply.

We prefer all submissions be electronic. Send your documents as Microsoft Word, PDF, or RTF attachments to [email protected] with your category of interest in the subject line (e.g., Attn: Cartoons, Attn: Nonfiction). Please include contact information: name, address, phone number, email address, and Twitter handle (if applicable).

Include a self-addressed envelope with proper postage to ensure return of all materials. Submissions sent by mail will not be returned without a self-addressed, stamped envelope, so please do not send original copies of your work.

Nonfiction

We accept well-researched nonfiction on health, history, human interest, finance, technology, travel, and politics. Submissions must be between 1,000 and 3,000 words long and previously unpublished. Send articles as Microsoft Word, PDF, or RTF attachments to [email protected] with Attn: Nonfiction in the subject line.

Fiction

We accept short fiction for both our print magazine and our website. All general submissions will be considered for both print and online. See our full fiction submission guidelines here.

We also encourage new and emerging authors to enter our annual Great American Fiction Contest for a chance to be published and promoted in our January/February issue. The submission period is from January 1 to July 1 each year. To enter The Great American Fiction Contest, see guidelines here.

Cartoons

We accept cartoon submissions for both the print magazine and our website. Please limit your submissions to no more than 10 cartoons per week. We will not consider any previously published material. Send your submissions as PDF attachments to [email protected] with the subject line Attn: Cartoons.
