In 1905, a young Paul Stahr began his art career producing posters for Broadway theater marquees. In 1913, he started illustrating stories in magazines. During World War I he created posters for the Liberty Loans drives, the Red Cross, and Herbert Hoover’s Food Administration, often employing his skill to paint beautiful women. Of the five covers he painted for the Post, this is his last, from February 13, 1926.
