Gay Degani began writing fiction in the fifth grade, and as a high school senior won second place in the Atlantic Monthly’s Student Writing Contest. Her stories can be found online in Atticus Review, Prime Number, and Every Day Fiction, among others, as well as in print anthologies, including Hint Fiction, Short Story America, and Sisters in Crime. She is the author of one novel, What Came Before, and two short story collections, Pomegranate Stories and Rattle of Want. “Scablands” is her first short story to be published by a national consumer magazine.
