Jim Gray began writing short fiction in high school. Over the years he has received several awards—including the Memphis Magazine Fiction Award in 2000 and the Ione Burden Award for the Novel for his book Bring Back the Night. Gray has published stories in various outlets, including Woman’s World, Delta Scene, River City, among others. He was also a runner-up in the Post’s Great American Fiction Contest for 2015, with his short story “Nothing but the Truth.”
