  1. Good grief Post editors, what the American woman puts herself through for the perfect footwear is something else. The personal service in the mid-1900’s is definitely long gone, be it for shoes or not having to leave your car for gas, window cleaning, tire pressure and more, right?

    So here, #’s 6 & 7 from ’57 are my favorites. # 6 is fantastic. You’d be shocked at what my mom would put up with her shoe selections. This would later include her Go-go boots in 1968 after she saw Barbara Cowsill in hers. In # 7, it’s good the salesman’s far enough back to not get kicked ‘there’. # 3 (from ’61) shows that ‘little stab of pain’ means he’s got a sale coming, for sure!
