  1. I love all of these cartoons. Interestingly, the one with the woman inquiring about her call being bounced off a satellite is dated May 26, 1962.
The first satellite to transmit the world’s first live transatlantic television and telephone signals, Telstar 1, was launched just over a month later, in July 1962. Both Telstar 1 and 2 still orbit the Earth, though no longer functional.

  2. They really are great cartoons. My own favorites here would be #3 down from ’54, and #5 down from ’62. #6 from ’61 further illustrates how people were slaves to the ringing phone no matter what. Even today if I call someone and they tell me they just stepped out of the shower, I tell them to call me back at a more convenient time or I’ll call them back in a bit. What I really feel like asking is why did they answer the answer the phone at all if it was inconvenient?

  3. Great cartoons. I can appreciate these as one who is retired from 35 years serving in the rural telecommunications industry.
