  1. My favorite is is the 3rd one down by Brian Savage. The ’60s were clearly in full bloom even though the most far out section was still ahead. A part II at some point wouldn’t surprise me.

  2. Regarding the cartoon about Mr. Shriver:
Sargent Shriver was a politician, diplomat & activist when this cartoon was drawn in the 1960s. He was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and founded the Job Corps, Head Start, VISTA, Upward Bound and other programs as the architect of the 1960s War on Poverty. In the cartoon, it appears to be a beggar in front of the White House in D.C. (Washington Monument appears in background), amazed that Mr. Shriver would walk right past and ignore him. Sargent Shriver (1915 – 2011) was the 1972 Democratic Vice Presidential running mate of Sen. George McGovern. He was married to John F. Kennedy’s sister Eunice & was the father of news journalist & former 1st Lady of California Maria Shriver.

  3. Gen X’er here! I’m not sure I get the top one. Was there an election in Vietnam and they were trying to stop the people from voting…? And I definitely don’t get the Mr. Shriver one!!!
