The Maine-native and Harvard-educated Henry Milner Rideout wrote fiction for The Saturday Evening Post in the early 20th century. His elegant, detailed prose depicts the wilderness of his home state or the foreign lands he traveled with a mastery that drew praise from Rideout’s literary peers. Most of his novels and short stories, however, have fallen through the cracks over the years.
