Benjamin Kimberly Prins’s covers for The Saturday Evening Post showed an innocent America, with its people often in comically dramatic moments. Many of his nearly three dozen lighthearted covers show people confronting troubles, storms, accidents, awkward run-ins, and other problems. They give his covers the look, and the atmosphere, of a 1960s sitcom. But in color, of course. Prins’s Thunderstorm at the Shore appeared on the cover of the July 10, 1954, issue of The Saturday Evening Post.
