James Williamson was a Nebraska native, Yale graduate (class of 1923) and 30-year resident of New York City and Greenwich, Connecticut, before moving to Puerto Rico in 1953. In a letter to his Philadelphia-based publishers at The Saturday Evening Post, he wrote, "Snow is beautiful to contemplate—in pictures. Good shoveling."
